Passionate about peer mentorship? We're looking for three new University Coordinators to join our Central Team!

Updated: 5 days ago

After an amazing response to our calls this summer inviting people to join the SolidariTee team, we are absolutely delighted to have had more than 350 people express interest already. We now have over 35 university teams set up, with more teams actively coming online all the time! This marks a significant increase in the number of teams compared to recent years - especially since the academic year hasn’t even begun. There are many reasons for this, but a big one is a wave of support for local, grassroots and mutual solidarity-based initiatives among young people and those who support us. We're deeply grateful for this response to lean into mechanisms of advocacy and collective action, as opposed to turning away when things become too distressing.

Now, it's up to us to provide the most supportive, affirming platform we can to amplify the brilliant ideas and efforts of our community.

With the addition of new university teams in recent weeks, we are looking for three new University Coordinators to join our Central Team. This is a brilliant and impactful role that centres on peer mentorship and support. As a University Coordinator, you’ll work closely with 4–6 Team Leads, acting as both a sounding board and a project partner.

Through weekly 1:1 calls, you'll work together to collaboratively discuss approaches, overcome challenges, and drive success aligned to each uni team's collective vision. In doing so, you'll directly contribute to tens of thousands of pounds being raised for refugee assistance provided through our partners, and promote an inclusive, effective team culture across all that we do. You’ll also play a key role in helping Team Leads and members build valuable skills and gain leadership experience - something many will carry with them throughout their lives. Many of our volunteers go on to pursue careers in the charity sector, with SolidariTee often being their first step on that path.

Who we're looking for

To succeed in this role, you'll have extensive experience of student and youth-led volunteering or activism and/or migration and displacement, perhaps by having been active in societies or local community groups or participating in other fundraising initiatives. You'll be a confident communicator who is passionate about supporting others to take agency and achieve their goals. Additionally, you’ll have a good understanding of what it takes to organise and run effective events We particularly welcome applications from people with lived or family experience of migration and displacement, as well as those with other lived experiences of harmful power and privilege dynamics, and welcome non-traditional forms of expertise and experience. We are also delighted to discuss any adjustments to the role or answer any questions that applicants may have.

This is a volunteer role, which involves an estimated weekly commitment of 3-4 hours, mostly via online calls with Team Leads and a few group meetings with other Central Team members, and runs until the end of the academic year (June 2026). If you're interested in contributing to SolidariTee's work in this crucial and deeply rewarding role, please head to our website to apply via a short form (no CV necessary). We'll be reviewing applications on a rolling basis, so we invite you to express interest as soon as possible, and shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an online interview. If you have any questions, email teamsolidaritee@solidaritee.org.uk and we would be happy to chat further!

“What I’ve loved most about being a University Coordinator is having the chance to support Team Leads as they build confidence and develop new skills throughout their time with SolidariTee. It’s incredibly rewarding to work alongside volunteers, helping bring their ideas to life and guiding them from the early stages of planning through to execution.”

-Eva Hennell, President 25/26 (who doubles as a Uni Coordinator!)
